The Good, The Bad, and The New Year
The New Year is here and 2015 is now over. 2015 was both a good and a bad year for me. I have a lot of mixed emotions about 2015 and am glad that it is over. 2015 ended up being one of the most trying years of my life so far. So much happened that it is hard to know where to start or even what to talk about. I dealt with a lot of rough times where I just wanted to give up. But because of my family and closest friends, I picked myself up each time and powered forward. So, before I lay out what I’m proud of in 2015, I want to take a minute to thank a few of the people who kept me motivated last year. The first and foremost is my wife, Amy, without her support, I couldn’t have gotten through the past year. To my children, Austin and Chloe, who always know how to make me feel better. Also to my Brothers, who have helped to make me a better man through their friendship.
I started this blog in 2015 with the intent to motivate and inspire other people. I want to do what I can to make this world a better place. Not for me, but for my children and the generations to come. I hope to show to others, that no matter how bad life may be, or how unhappy you are, you can find what makes you happy, and do it! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed creating and working on this blog. I’ve learned so much about blogging and traveling since I started it. I’ve even reignited my love for my home state of Maryland. And with this love of my own state, I look forward to exploring more of the United States and the world.
So, forward we move, into 2016! I have given myself a set of goals, and plan to do everything I can in order to achieve them. This year I will be traveling to 12 different states for the purpose of exploring places I’ve never been, having new experiences, and crossing a few things off of my bucket list. Many of my trips will be including my family, but I will also be traveling to a few locations on my own. I am a little nervous about spending long hours in a car with my family, but am looking forward to seeing my children experience places outside of the general area where we live.
As for this blog, I have many new plans in the works and some exciting news. As of January 1 I have my own domain! I am so excited to have made this leap and invest in my blog. When I created this blog, almost a year ago, I planned that if I felt it was going in a positive, upward direction, that I would get my own domain name. I spent weeks researching names and chose my current blog name. I then hoped no one would purchase it before I was ready to do so. So I am now pleased to say that thechallengeofadventure.com is now my domain and the address for my blog!
Last year I published a total of 9 articles over the course of 10 months. While that is almost a single article per month, I want to do more this year. So I plan to do my best to publish an article EVERY week. With so many articles to write, and so little time to travel I will begin publishing articles where I reviews of some of the equipment and travels items I use. Which also brings me to another big piece of news. I’m getting a LILY CAM! For those of you who don’t know what a Lily Cam is, it is a throw-and-shoot camera drone. It is the first of it’s kind. My brother purchased it for my birthday back in November and it ships this summer. I couldn’t be more excited to be getting one and cannot what to receive it and test it out.
With so much going on already, it’s hard to think that there could be any more to come. But I have one more announcement. In 2016, I hope to also be providing some videos of my travels. While I am still working on the logistics and financing of doing so, I am excited to show my readers what some of these locations and experiences are truly like. I’ve been kicking this idea around since the beginning and decided to go for it this year. So, here is to the New Year!
